All Food Is Not The Same

The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition defines food as:

“Material, usually of plant or animal origin, that contains or consists of essential body nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals, and is ingested and assimilated by an organism to produce energy, stimulate growth, and maintain life.”

The image carousel above shows different categories of food including: Organic, Natural, Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), Non-GMO, Processed, Ultra-processed, Fast Food, Cooked Food. In this lesson we will explore these different kinds of food in turn. By the end of this lesson it should be quite clear that all food is not the same. It our hope that the informed consumer would then be able to make informed choices.
