Insoluble Fiber

The figure above highlights some sources of insoluble fiber.  Insoluble fiber is fiber that does not blend with water.  Insoluble fibers remain intact in the digestive tract adding bulk to intestinal contents allowing faster movement of waste through the intestines.  Insoluble fiber is clearly important to prevent constipation and keep our bowel movements regular.
