Mankind in Adam partook of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,
Yet he is ignorant, having eyes he cannot see, having ears he cannot hear, and his heart has been turned to stone.
He still believes the lie that his Father does not have his best interest at heart.
He still thinks that he must by his own might and power keep on seeking further enlightenment.
He is like a spider trapped in a web of his own making.
There is a traversable path of disentanglement that he refuses to take.
Because, then he must admit that life's decision are not solely his to make.
Instead he retreats further into himself in his tangled web of disillusionment still believing that he is the captain of his own destiny.
He pursues wealth, health, purpose, and fame believing that the acquisition of same will light the flame.
The flame within that only reconciliation to God can ignite.
The flame that only on-going intimacy with God keeps burning bright.
Oh that mankind would see the light and give up this futile fight!
