What Kind of Love Is This?

heart, love, sunset-3147976.jpg
For God so loved the world
What kind of love is this?
Immeasurable, infinitesimal, unending
As sure and lasting as its subject
Pure and unadulterated by the response of its object
Awe-inspiring when clearly seen
Irresistible once fully revealed
Its impact cannot be repealed.

For God so loved the world
Indiscriminate in it's reach
Sorely misrepresented by religion
Yet untarnished by human perception
When its essence is unveiled
Even to those who believe that God failed
All knees will bow and all tongues will confess
When nothing else could help His love prevailed.

Religion with a false apocalyptic interpretation
Has promoted the idea of earth's impending annihilation
You hear it in the streets
You hear it when religious folks meet
God does not just love the people He propagated
He also loved the cosmos He created
So His plan involves the preservation of the universe
His love will surely reverse the effect of sin's curse.

The restoration of the universe and God's children are interconnected.
Intrinsically linked according to the Father's plan
Creation eagerly awaits their coming into maturity
Their ascension ushering in the tangible enlargement of His territory
Mankind has had his season of futility.
It's time now to give way to the Father's will
The Word that He uttered is relevant still
The earth will be covered by the knowledge of the glory of God like the waters cover the sea.

He also wills that none perish but that all come to repentance
Man having a desire and God having a desire are dissimilar.
While we may have a wishful feeling His expressed intents are revealing
His words never return to Him without being fulfilled
Just think about the price He paid on Calvary's hill.
He was guaranteed success before man ever sinned.
He procured man's redemption before He ever fell
He will never leave his soul to rot in hell.

What about mankind's choice? you ask.
Serious consideration of God's sovereignty is the more relevant task.
Is the mother who never abandons her wayward children more gracious than He?
What kind of parent turns their back on their offspring for eternity?
Only the one that is a figment of our religious imagination.
Or the one we mentally created in our fallen image.
The principles of time-limited slavery establishes the pattern for all to see
Yes I am referring to the principle of Jubilee.

One man's disobedience got mankind into a temporary pickle
Another's man's obedience revealed that the Father is not fickle.
His intent to have a family in His image still stands
Jesus, the example of us to us, reveals the intent of His plans
The realm of the invisible will indeed invade the visible
God's trans-dimensional kids will facilitate the inevitable
Star Trek fans understand the reference, "resistance is futile"
Christ will be all and in all, as all will be assimilated.

I wrote all of the above to emphatically say
The price has already been paid
The most difficult task has already been accomplished
That is why our Savior cried out, "It is finished!"
The greatest demonstration of God's love is also the instrument of man's redemption.
The first Adam's annihilation and the creation of a brand new man.
And so love continues to work itself out
God who is love will win without a doubt.

Not through threats or fear-based compulsion
That's not love
That's simply manipulation
Father is not schizophrenic or bipolar
He is certainly not an abuser or a controller
I will admit He is jealous
He said as much in the scripture
Jealous when we settle for less than His gracious offer.

And so He patiently waits like the Prodigal son's father
Awaiting His kids return from their wayward wandering
With open arms He awaits without judgement
Unlike those who are enamored by carnal sentiment
For while we focus on aberrant behavior
He knows at the root of it is a distorted identity.
Like an eagle who believes he is a chicken
Or like a lioness who believes she is a kitten.

The solution is back in the Father's house
The answer is back in the Father's embrace and gaze.
His beloved kids need to look into His eyes and see as in a mirror
Their true image, that of Jesus Christ their savior
Yes the one that was given as evidence of God's love
The one who through the incarnation came from above.
Seeing, believing and owning their true identity
Is how the dearly beloved will live in victory.
