This course would not be complete if I did not address this subject. We at TelEduHealth believe that kids need to have an understanding of the truth that will be shared in this lesson. Let us set the tone with the following scripture:
4 ‘The Bible says’, replied Jesus, ‘that it takes more than bread to keep you alive. You actually live on every word that comes out of God’s mouth.’ [Matthew 4:4 - New Testament for Everyone]
We have already learned that we need food to live: go, grow and glow. This scripture makes it clear that we need more than physical food; that we also need “every word that comes out of God’s mouth.” What has God said concerning us that is life-giving, empower and sustaining?
He loves us absolutely [John 3:16].
He will never abandon us [Deut. 31:6-8; Matt. 28:20].
He has a special place for kids [Matt. 19:14].
He gets angry when others hurt kids [Luke 17:2].
He wants us to always be grateful [1 Thess. 5:18].
He wants us to obey and honor our parents [Eph. 6:1-2].
He wants us to submit to those in authority [1 Peter 2:13-17].
He wants us to treat others like we want to be treated [Matt. 7:12].
He wants us to know we can do all things with His help [Phil. 4:13].
He wants us to think true, honest, just, pure and lovely thoughts [Phil. 4:8].
He want us to know honoring authority is connected to longevity [Eph. 6:2].
He wants us to do everything cheerfully as though we are doing it for Him [Col. 3 :23].
He wants us to love Him greatly, ourselves and our neighbor as we love ourselves [Matt. 22:36-39].
These things are relevant because they are part of the environmental nurturing that affects our health. Sometimes even if we eat healthy foods but we do not have the right nurturing we will not be healthy.
