Navigating Insurance and Funding

Therapies can be a significant expense, but many options exist to help. Don’t let cost stand in your way.

1. Understanding Insurance Coverage

Start by contacting your insurance provider. Ask them directly if they cover autism diagnosis codes F84.0 or F84.5. If their initial answer is no, don’t give up. Learn how to file an appeal, as many denials can be overturned.

 2. Exploring Financial Assistance

Beyond insurance, a variety of financial aid options are available:

  • Grants and Family Funds: Research autism-specific grants in your state or through national organizations. Many non-profits and foundations offer family grants to help cover therapy costs.
  • Waivers: Look into state-specific waivers and programs that provide financial assistance for therapy and other services for children with special needs.

 3. Seeking Professional Guidance

You don’t have to do this alone. Ask for help from a social worker at your pediatrician’s office. They are knowledgeable about local resources, grants, and how to navigate complex systems to get the support your family needs.

This course will also provide you with additional options and resources to ensure your child’s progress is not blocked by financial concerns.
